HBBA/HPL AGM - June 30th 2010 This year's Annual General Meeting of the Herts Basketball Association/Herts Premier League will take place on Wednesday June 30th at 8pm at Queens School Sports Centre, Aldenham Road, Bushey WD23 2TY. The sports hall is on the same side of the Road as Costco and the Police Centre, follow the signs for Power League round the back of the Queens School car park. The meeting will take place on the balcony of the Sport Hall. It is required that every club must send at least one and not more than two representatives to the meeting. It would also be good to get as many referees and table officials as possible to attend, as well as a representative of the Ladies League and any other basketball organisations within Hertfordshire. Watford Royals 50 Year Anniversary Reunion A reunion evening is being held on Saturday 17th July 2010 to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the inauguration of the Watford Royals Basketball club. The event will be held at Watford Indoor Bowls Club and will cost £10 per head (buffet provided). Fliers and Dux Claim League Cups Congratulations to Luton Fliers 1 and Aylesbury Dux, winners of the 2010 Division One and Division Two HPL League Cups respectively. The season is now over for the most part, with only one or two regional junior tournaments which Hertfordshire are hosting in May remaining. Details of the AGM in June will be circulated when the date and time have been finalised. Level 2 Referee Course Full The Level 2 Referee Course taking place at Francis Bacon School on May 22nd and 23rd is now full. Thanks to all those that have applied. Places are still available for the Level 1 Table Official Courses coming up in May. Please contact Sara Nash if you wish to attend. Upcoming Level 2 Referee Course and Level 1 Table Official Courses - May 2010 The Herts Basketball Association are pleased to announce that a Level 2 Referee Course is being held held at Francis Bacon School, St Albans, on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd May. The course is being organised on behalf of the Association by the Herts Sports Partnership. As a result of funding from th Partnership, we are able to offer the course free of charge to those that meet a certain criteria - the main criteria being that candidates must be 16 or over, in full or part-time employment, and not in full time education. Those that do not meet the criteria are still very welcome, places on the course cost £80. For futher details contact Paul at referees@hertsbasketball.co.uk. Sara Nash is also organising two Level 1 Table Official Courses. The first date is Saturday 15th May, with the second a week later on Saturday 22nd May. Both courses are at Queens School in Bushey. League Cup Finals Dear All, The 2010 Herts Premier League Cup Finals take place this Sunday, 18th April, at Wodson Park, Ware. The full schedule is as follows... 1.15pm Division Two Semi Finals Aylesbury Dux v Michaelians Harlow Hawks 2 v Ware Wolves 3.15pm Division One Semi Finals Luton Fliers 1 v Cambridge Cougars Enfield Mercs v Hertfordshire Warriors 1 5.15pm Division Two Final 7.15pm Division One Final As usual, entry is free for all and everyone is welcome. Hertfordshire County Junior Teams Hertfordshire will this year be entering teams into the three junior tournaments organised by the Eastern Region for the following age groups - u13 girls, u13 boys and u17 boys. After inviting applications from interested parties, the coaches appointed to these teams are.... u13 girls - Tony Marmo u13 boys - Tony Marmo u17 boys - Steve Darlow The selection and training process is now underway. The Hertfordshire Basketball Association would like to wish our teams all the best in their upcoming tournaments. HPL League Cup Finals The Venue for the HPL League Cup Finals in April has now been confirmed. Following the same format as last year, the semi finals and finals will be held at Wodson Park, Ware, on Sunday 18th April. The schedule for the day will be as follows..... 1.15pm Division Two Semi Finals 3.15pm Division One Semi Finals 5.15pm Division Two FINAL 7.15pm Division One FINAL The bleachers will be out for the finals and spectators are welcome all day.
